SAMPLE PHOTOGRAPHS OF WIND POWERED ELECTRICITY GENERATORS |
|
V. Ryan © 2006 - 2009 | |
This photograph of a modern giant wind
power electricity generator was taken on a hillside outside the Spanish
Mediterranean port of Algeciras. This was one of many generators
distributed on the same hillside. |
|
The Spanish Government has invested heavily in wind power, over an extended period of time. The generators seen below are older but also found in the same location. |

|
|
This is an example of one of the older wind powered generators. The blades are held aloft by a triangulated structure ensuring great strength The shape of the blades ensure that power generation is efficient even by modern standards. |
|
This photograph was taken near Madrid in Spain
(2006). It is a ‘Vestas NM82’, standing at an enormous 397 feet or 121
metres in height, almost a third of the height of the Eiffel Tower. If
you study the photograph carefully you will see a building at the base
of the wind powered electricity generator. Look how small the door is as
it gives some idea of the scale/size of the generator. |
|
QUESTIONS: 2. Sketch one of the wind powered generators shown above. |
