ANALYSIS OF A CONTAINER FOR A SOFT DRINK

V. Ryan © 2005

The container below contains a well known soft drink (energy drink), popular especially with young people.

COLOUR SCHEME: Orange, red and yellows (the their various shades) are the dominant colours. They create the feeling of ‘energy’ and ‘vitamin enriched goodness’, especially as the drink is based on orange. Black is also present in some places to emphasise key words such as ‘energy’ and in other places as the colour for clear precise printing / information.

LAYOUT: Approximately 75 percent of surface of the container has graphics and colour aimed at promoting the product name, its purpose/function and its main ingredient - orange. The aim of this is to attract the customers interest in buying the product.
The remaining 25% is for detail printed information such as ingredients and nutritional information.

QUESTION:
1. Look closely at the container shown above. Sketch two simple outlines of the container. On one drawing sketch the layout to the part of the container that normally faces the customer. On the second drawing sketch the layout to the part of the container that normally faces away from the customer.
