KEY FOB EVALUATION EXERCISE
V. Ryan © 2007

Designers evaluate their finished products or prototypes in order to test whether they work well and if the design can be corrected or improved. It is always important to evaluate your work.

When you evaluate the sample key fob shown below you will need to ask yourself a number of questions. You may also need to ask your fellow pupils some of the questions in order to find out their opinions. Record the your answers underneath each question listed below.

1. What do you think of the overall design ? What changes would you make ?

2. Are you happy with the materials used ? (assume translucent perspex has been used) Would you use different materials next time ?

3. Are you happy with the colour ? What colour would you select next time ?

4. How long do you think the key fob took to make ?

5. What is your estimate of the cost of the project ?

6. Is the key fob safe ? Could it be made safer ?

7. What equipment and machines are required to make the key fob ?

8. Is the key fob the right size/shape ?

9. What are the views of other people regarding the key fob ?

10. Do you think it will work ? Are changes to the key fob required ?
