Some people have a severe reaction to eating nuts or any food containing nuts. Nut allergy is a recognised medical condition, particularly in children and on rare occasions it can kill.

Avoiding nuts of nut extract is more easily said than done. If you are allergic to nuts it is impossible to guarantee that you will never eat food products containing the type of nuts you are allergic to.

The symbol / logo seen below can be found on foods that have been carefully prepared in a ‘nut free zone’. This means that the food is safe to eat.

The symbol below identifies the food contained within its packaging as being suitable for vegetarians. A simpler version exists which consists of a ‘tick’ within a circle. This example is more interesting because the tick is part of a smiling face.

Design a symbol / logo that clearly identifies the food contents of a package as suitable for vegetarians. Also draw an alternative symbol for ‘nut free zone’. Your designs should be an improvement on the existing symbols. Consider the colour scheme very carefully and keep your design for each symbol simple and clear.

Draw the new symbols in a suitable position on the package below.
