PRESENTATION OF AN ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWING
V. Ryan © 2007 - 2008

An orthographic drawing is only complete when dimensions, scale and orthographic symbols are added (Shown Below).

Add dimensions (measurements). Study the way these have been drawn on the front, side and plan views.

Add the Third Angle Orthographic drawing symbol.

Add the scale you have used. For instance, if you have drawn the mobile phone exactly the same size as the real phone -this is written as 1:1. However, if you have drawn the phone twice the size of the original this is written as 2:1. If you have drawn the phone halving all the measurements, this is written as 1:2

Usually a border and title block is drawn before the orthographic drawing is even started. This helps keep the work neat and tidy right from the beginning. It also provides a space for important information such as your name, the title and the date (see below)
