This design is formed from acrylic, from a flat strip. Slots are cut out of the acrylic before it is formed using a mould. It can be manufactured using two techniques: 1. After the slots are cut out, the strip is heated in an oven until it becomes flexible. It is then transferred to a mould and pressed to the desired shape. 2. An alternative technique, is produce each fold individually, using a strip heater. |
This type of remote control holder can be manufactured to hold any number of units. To increase the number of holders, a long strip is required and further individual folds. The holder is stable although it can be knocked over given a reasonable degree of force. Acrylic is ideal for this design, as it folds easily when heated. it comes in a range of colours, both opaque, transparent and translucent. |
The organiser should be positioned within easy reach, such as a coffee table or even a stool next to the user. |
