Below is a typical family. The holiday season is here
and the weather is fine for outside activities and picnics. This family
enjoys visits to country parks and the countryside.
As you can seen the family have a problem. They have
been in the camper van for three hours and now they have arrived there is
nowhere to sit and enjoy their food and drink. The parents are determined
to solve this problem when they get home. This will mean that they can
enjoy picnics in the future. When they arrive back home they immediately
employ a designer to help solve this ‘common’ situation. The designer
starts by asking his new customer a series of questions. The answers (seen
in blue) will help the designer develop a range of designs for portable
outdoor furniture that will be easy transport and assemble.
1. How many chairs will you need?
We will need at least four chairs. This allows us
bring a guest along with us. We also need a table.
2. Do you need a mixture of sizes to suit a typical family (suitable for
an adult and child)?
We will need furniture suitable for adults and
children.
3. What is the size of your car boot ?
We have a typical family car and camper van. The
boot of the car is average.
4. Is there plenty of space at the picnic sites you visit?
We can take along as much furniture as we like.
5. Would you like the furniture unit made from natural materials or man
made?
I want something quite cheap but looking expensive.
An weather proof material will do nicely.
6. What is you favourite colour?
I like the natural colour of a wood such as pine or
mahogany and even teak.
7. What style of outdoor furniture do you like - modern / traditional?
A traditional looking furniture as it matches the
furniture in our Victorian house.
8. Do you intend to buy a set of furniture based on the same style?
Yes we want a complete set of picnic furniture based
on the same style
