ELECTRONICS IN SCHOOLS INITIATIVE

Data are promoting a range of very useful courses for Design Technology Staff. One of the most useful is the DATA/IEE ECT Initiative which centres on electronics in schools. What a good idea! DT staff are not always trained to a level in electronics whereby they feel confident about delivering an electronics course to pupils. This courses encourages staff to develop their electronics skills. There are two levels of courses, 'Starting out in Electronics' and 'Taking Electronics Further'.

Starting out in Electronics is aimed at teachers who have only a basic understanding of electronics and need training and guidance in this area. It aims to build their confidence in electrnics.

Taking Electronics Further is aimed at teachers who want to develop their electronic skills further. The course outline suggests that PIC Microcontrollers will be central to the course.

DATA/IEE are providing courses that are well worth attending especially as there is funding attached to attending the course.

For more information see the ECT website www.ectinschools.org

Well done DATA / IEE
