SAMPLE LESSON PLANS

Below are examples of individual lesson plans. Producing a plan for each lesson is a very good idea for students and new teachers. For all staff, regardless of managerial position, performance management is an important feature of professional development and so planning a lesson on paper - for a lesson observation is vital.

Certain key issues must be addressed when planning a lesson;

Subject title,

Date,

Class,

Topic,

Context,

Learning objectives,

Resources,

Activities,

Differentiation,

Contribution to core skills (numeracy, ICT, literacy etc....)

Homework,

Confidential information.

In theory, staff should refer to the departmental policy document and schemes of work when planning lessons. This will give guidelines for each of the areas outlined above.
