Stage Seven: Evaluation.
The pupils will be asked to evaluate their product and packaging and that of
other pupils. They will mark their own first and then each of their fellow
pupils.
Pupils will discuss how they should carry out the evaluation and its
criteria. Function, aesthetics, shape, form, quality of information and
symbols - will be discussed. A basic results table will be drawn o the board
with columns representing each criteria. Totals and calculating over average
marks will be discussed.

Stage Eight: Pupils introduced to
pro/DESKTOP software. A general demonstration on basic use of software -
extrusion, rounding and chamfering on corners, drawing of a variety of
shapes, saving files etc….
Working in pairs pupils to experiment designing a simple camera. |
C. Pupils work in pairs and share
control over the computer and its software.
ICT. Use of professional CAD software.
L. Pupils follow basic instructions, using the help files within pro/DESKTOP
software.
N. Pupils draw their designs to size, using the dimensioning tool.

Stage Nine: Recap on use of
pro/DESKTOP software.
The class will be divided into two groups. The first group will attempt
their own designs using the software. The second group will be given
isometric paper. They will draw two camera / mobile phone designs on this
sheet. Adding labels and notes.
The groups will swap over half way through the lesson. |
C. Discussion of the need to
design mobile phones so that they can be held away from the head. Microwave
transmissions and their dangers discussed. Ethical designs discussed.
ICT. Pro/DESKTOP software further demonstrated.
L. importance of precise notes and labeling of designs.
N. Designs drawn accurately and to size on pro/DESKTOP and to scale on the
isometric paper.
HWK. Complete two hand drawn designs |
Pupils research the dangers of
microwave transmissions. Write a short essay of the dangers and possible
advice to be given to customers of their product. |
