Stage Four: The pupils will be introduced to a range of linkage
mechanisms. They will be shown examples as seen on bicycles, tool boxes
etc….
Using the theory sheet, the pupils will complete the linkages and name each
one. They will draw a practical application of each linkage and add
explanatory notes.
Demonstration on the marking out and cutting of puppet parts. Use of the
fretsaw and marking out tools. |

Stage Five: Practical work begins. The pupils will mark out their
puppets and start to cut out the shapes using fretsaws. Safety will be
emphasised and discussed.
The use of the drilling machine will be demonstrated and safety will be
emphsised.
The pupils will start a worksheet on the use of the drilling machine. |

Stage Six: A range of hand tools will be demonstrated, including files,
glass paper, marking gauge etc…
The pupils will continue associated practical work.
The pupils will start a sequence drawing of the manufacturing process. A
sample sequence drawing will be shown to the pupils and the layout and
content will be discussed. |

N. Accurate positioning of parts /
components for the manufacturing of the final product.
C. Pupils produce simple instructions as
to the manufacture of their design. It should be possible for anyone to
