Stage Four: Pupils introduced to the design of a thermometer. A number
of rough designs will be dawn by the pupils.
The pupils will share and discuss the designs in small groups. Key
terminology will be discussed. Each group will select what they consider to
be the best and a spokesperson will explain their selection to the rest of
the class.
The pupils will be shown how to set out a A3 design sheet., presentation
will be discussed. The pupils will start the design sheet. |

Stage Five: The pupils will produce the final design for the making of
the thermometers. This will be translated into paper / card templates.
The templates will be drawn to scale and used to cut out the shapes from the
‘smart foam’. Emphasis will be placed on marking out the templates
accurately.

Stage Six: Manufacturing of final product.
The pupils will be shown how to put all the parts / components together to
make an effective, final product.
Digital photographs will be taken of all the products and these will be used
for a final evaluation.
Key issues relating to evaluating the thermometer project will be discussed.
Pupils will present their own written evaluation - Improvements will be
emphasised. |
