RESOURCES

The pupils will start a extended project aimed at designing a small personal stereo. They will begin by producing two "wire" designs, at first with freehand sketching following faint guide-lines drawn with T-Squares and set squares. Each pupil will carefully draw one in isometric and the other in single point perspective. The pupils will build up a collage / montage of catalogue pictures / photographs based on personal stereos

Composite Drawings. The pupils will be introduced composite drawing and presentation techniques. These will include simple but effective use of colour - coloured pencils, felt pens, coloured card and normal drawing pencils and pens.

N. Pupils to cut card to accurate measurements.

L. Appropriate notes added to each drawing.

ICT. Search graphics section of website

HWK. Draw a personal stereo in isometric and produce a composite drawing.

Additional composite design to be completed. Website address

Drawing / graphics equipment.

Craft Knives/cutting equipment.

The pupils will design a "felt pen" using fine line pens and brush pens. (See Folder) They will select appropriate pencils and pens, and demonstrate shadow. The pupils will design a craft knife. They will be shown a basic felt pen technique whereby the outline is drawn in pencil first, followed by fine line felt pen, filled with a broad felt pen and then apply coloured pencil. Two basic designs with emphasis placed on the colouring technique rather than the design.

N. Measuring of existing equipment and data collection sheet produced.

ICT. Use of appropriate software to produce a pen design.

HWK. Complete data sheet, rough designs and felt pen presentation designs.

Select another piece of drawing equipment and present this using the felt pen colouring technique. Website address

Drawing / graphics equipment.

The pupils will be introduced to the use of Single Point Perspective. The position of vanishing points, horizon etc... explained. The pupils will draw a number of blocks at different angles and progress on to furniture. They will then design an interior sign for a room of their choice. (using basic drawing techniques - T-Square and set squares etc...) One or two examples could be drawn on "isometric" paper, as an alternative.

N. Pupils to investigate reduction / enlargement using perspective methods. (scaling)

ICT. Investigate examples in the graphics section of the website.

HWK. Draw single items of furniture, design a kitchen interior.

In single point perspective, design an interior to a room of your choice. Website address
