OBJECTIVE: The pupils will be introduced again to the full design process. They will also be presented with a limited number of materials in order to encourage them to think carefully about possible solutions.

Stage Seven: The pupils will select their best idea and a working drawing will be constructed. The principles behind front, side and plan elevation will be explained. Dimensioning will also be introduced and the way measurements are set out on the views demonstrated.

The construction of a parts list will be demonstrated and its purpose explained.

L. Pupils explain to the class why they have selected a particular idea.

N. Measurements during the construction of the working drawing explained. Scales discussed.

ICT. Pupils draw a single view of their idea (front or side view) using graphics software.

HWK. Complete the working drawing with dimensions.

Construct a parts list. Drawing equipment.

ICT access to graphics software.

Stage Eight: The pupils will manufacture their designs. Safety will be emphasised at all times

L. Pupils follow written and verbal instructions at all times. Pupils will demonstrate a machine ie. A fretsaw to the whole class.

N. Care taken over measuring and cutting accurately.

ICT. Sequence drawing produced by pupils using DTP software.

HWK. Complete ate least one stage of a sequence drawing, each week, during manufacture.

Attend workshop sessions to complete a model of the desk tidy. Drawing equipment.

Stage Nine: The pupils will evaluate their projects and the work of all other pupils in the class. This will be done using the following guidelines:

N. Mark each pupils piece of work and work out the average mark.

L. Write an evaluation. Pupils read out evaluations to the class.

ICT. Word process evaluation.

C. Pupils listen to views of others and discuss alternative ideas/improvements

Create an improved design which has evolved to include suggestions by other pupils.
