USING A FORMER TO PRODUCE CHAIN LINKS |

Individually designed chain links, can be manufactured using a former. Formers are relatively easy to manufacture, although the smaller the link, the smaller the former and therefore, the more ‘fiddly’ to make. |
The former shown below, is made from pine and a number of steel pegs. The pegs could be round section nails or even pins. The former is secured in a vice and annealed wire is ‘bent’ around the pegs, producing individual hexagonal links. |
