THE SMARTCARD READER

When a program has been written on the Programmer Module or on a computer and then downloaded to the smartcard, through the programmer - the smartcard can be transferred to the Reader Module for testing. The smartcard is inserted in the smartcard socket and the card detect green LED should light. The program stored on the card will start automatically although if the reset switch is pressed it will start again.

Smartcard Socket: The smartcard is pushed into the socket so that the program can start

Reset Switch: If this is pressed the program starts again.

Input LEDs: Input devices such as push switches, pressure pads and other sensors can be connected to the connectors below the input LEDs. If one of these devices is activated (eg. a switch is pressed) the input LED above it will light. The program on the smartcard may have been programmed to detect input devices.

Output LEDs: Output devices such as bulbs and motors can be connected to the connectors below the output LEDs. The program on the smartcard may have been written to turn on and off these devices. If they are turned on then the LED above each device will light.
