Design Brief
A manufacturer of remote control organisers has asked you to produce a range of designs for a living room / bedroom / study.

Produce five designs for a remote control organiser, for a living room / bedroom / study.

Below are shown a number of typical living rooms /bedrooms, where remote controls may be used.

 
 
 
 
DESIGN SPECIFICATION
REMOTE CONTROL ORGANISER
 

Design Specification.

1. Write three design requirements of a remote control organiser. Include an explanation for each of your requirements.

Example:

Requirement: The remote control organiser should be designed/manufactured, to hold a range of different sizes.

Explanation: Remote controls for different electronic equipment are never the same size. They vary in size and their shapes differ slightly.

 
 
 
REQUIREMENT 1:
The organiser should be stylish and aesthetically pleasing. It could be designed with a particular design movement in mind.
 
EXPLANATION:
If the organiser is based on a design movement, it will appeal to a wide range of potential customers. The unit could be made available in a range of styles stipulated by the customer. Design Movements such as ‘Memphis’ or ‘Bauhaus’, will inspire a really good stylish design.
 
REQUIREMENT 2:
The organiser should be transportable / movable, allowing safe and easy carrying of its contents. A handle may be required.
 
EXPLANATION:
Adding a handle will help the user, when the organiser is to be moved, either to another room or to a friends house. When removing a remote control, the handle will help to steady the organiser.
 
 
 
REQUIREMENT 3:
Good ergonomic design is essential.
 
EXPLANATION:
Ergonomic design is desirable, especially for a handle, so that the organiser can be transported and held comfortably. An ergonomic design may be essential.
 
MORE POSSIBLE REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be of a thorough/strong construction.
2. It should be possible to manufacture the organiser in large qualities or to batch produce.
3. All the designs must be safe for the user.
4. Must be long lasting and durable.
5. It could be designed to help organise/marshall its contents.
6. Should keep the remote controls secure
7. Recycled or sustainable materials should be considered.
8. The corganiser should keep the contents clean and dust free.
