If a machine screw / bolt is included in a sectioned viewed the screw / bolt is not sectioned. Common parts such as screws are not sectioned, as a sectional view of these would not provide any additional information. An example of this is shown below. |
HOW TO DRAW THE SECTIONAL VIEW |
Stage one shows the blind hole and the shoulder, at the top of the hole. |
The length of thread has been added in stage two. It is important that if a threaded hole is sectioned that the 45 degree hatching lines are projected all the way through the threaed portion. |
Stage three - the steel plate has been added to the sectioned view. The hatching of the plate is in the opposite direction of the hatching of the main steel body. |
Stage four shows how NOT to add the machine screw. Detail of the threads is not rerquired. |
Stage five shows how the bolt should look, as part of a sectional view. |
